The Future of Money is Asia

The Future of Money is Asia event highlights how Bangkok is emerging as a key regional platform where regulators, banks, fintech firms and Web3 players shape the next phase of financial innovation. Asia’s growing influence in payments, digital assets and cross-border finance suggests the region will play a central role in defining the future global money system.

Bangkok to host “The Future of Money is Asia” fintech and digital assets forum during Money20/20 week

Bangkok will host **The Future of Money is Asia** on April 23 at SCBX NEXT TECH, bringing together senior figures from banking, fintech, digital assets and financial policy during one of the busiest weeks for Asia’s finance industry. The evening forum is positioned as a side event to Money20/20 Asia and will focus on the idea that the next phase of global financial innovation will be built and scaled across Asia.

The event is organised by APAC DAO, a regional digital asset and fintech community with a wide network of partners across more than 20 countries. Organisers say the programme is designed as a high-signal gathering featuring one keynote session, two expert panels and curated networking with founders, investors, operators and ecosystem leaders.

The agenda opens with remarks from Nicole Nguyen, founder of APAC DAO, who will outline why Asia is increasingly becoming the global growth engine for fintech, digital payments and next-generation financial infrastructure.

The first keynote will be delivered by Lucas Yang, Head of Sales & Solutions at Cobo, followed by a panel titled Digital Assets 2.0 – From Policy Sandbox to On-ground Execution. The discussion will examine how Asian markets are moving beyond regulatory experimentation into real-world deployment across custody, tokenisation, settlement systems and institutional adoption.

Panel participants include representatives from Tether, Cobo, Securosys and SCB 10X, highlighting the growing intersection between traditional finance and blockchain infrastructure.

A second keynote from Renna Ba, Head of Ecosystem at Morph, will focus on open finance and the shift beyond closed financial systems.

The evening’s second panel, Emerging Fintech Innovations – Mapping the next financial landscape, will explore trends reshaping Southeast Asia’s financial sector, including embedded finance, AI-powered services, digital banking and cross-border growth opportunities.

Speakers include executives from Standard Chartered Malaysia, SCBX, the Bank of Thailand, and the Asia FinTech Association, reflecting the broad mix of private sector and regulatory voices involved.

The event concludes with a networking reception aimed at fostering new partnerships between startups, institutions, investors and builders driving the next wave of financial technology in the region.

Sponsors and partners include Tether, SCBX, SCB 10X, Cobo, Securosys, Morph, ETHGlobal and the Fintech Association of Malaysia.

The gathering underscores Bangkok’s growing role as a regional meeting point for payments, blockchain, digital banking and financial innovation, as global attention increasingly turns toward Asia’s expanding influence over the future of money.
