Crypto wallets out, boarding passes up. Emirates and Dubai Duty Free are going Web3 — and they’re doing it with Crypto.com.
Emirates Airline and Dubai Duty Free just signed a deal with Crypto.com to roll out crypto payments across flights, airports, and retail — making Dubai the first global hub where your Bitcoin is basically as good as your AmEx.
The plan? You’ll soon be able to:
All under Dubai’s national D33 strategy to double GDP with tech and make the city the smart economy capital of the world by 2033.
“This isn’t a gimmick — it’s a step toward a smarter travel + retail experience,” said HH Sheikh Ahmed, Emirates CEO and royal boss of Dubai aviation.
Until now, crypto payments have been stuck in NFT merch stores and shady Telegram bots.
This move means:
“We’re not just exploring. We’re implementing,” said Crypto.com President Eric Anziani. "And we’re doing it with brands that move millions."
✅ Dubai Duty Free – Exploring in-store and online crypto payments – Sales hit 1.1B+ in 2025, now going full Web3 – New digital engagement tools and NFT-style rewards planned
✅ Emirates Airline – Rolling out Crypto.com Pay in 2025 – Targeting Gen Z travelers and digital nomads – Focused on frictionless payments with high security
Dubai’s not betting on hype. It’s building a use-case economy — real payments, real transactions, real services.
You won’t need a bank account — just a wallet and a passport.
By 2025:
“It’s not about trading anymore. It’s about living in crypto,” said Adnan Kazim, Emirates Chief Commercial Officer.
